The LaVille High school bowling team participated in a Michiana West Conference doubleheader over the weekend at Chippewa Bowl. On the boys side, the Lancers and Mishawaka are considered a couple of top teams in 2024 and once again showed their depth. MHS started hot, bowling with a lot of confidence in game one, and rolled to a 9-1 lead.  Ryan Carmichael was high-man for LaVille following a score of 205. Coach Kevin Kubsch's club battled back in the second game. Leading in overall pins for the second game, the Lancers were staying focused and playing tough. As the 10th frame neared, LHS had a chance to pick up not just individual points, but take the team points as well. And though the Lancers fell just short on a couple of shots to close the series, they still managed a courageous comeback, winning the second game, 7-3. Mishawaka won the overall match, 12-8. Kubsch's squad had a bye week in the 13-team league, so the Lancers bowled for scores in the second match of the day. While guys were bowling, the LaVille ladies were in a battle of their own against Penn and John Glenn. In the opening match against the Kingsmen, Trinity Pickett, Lexi Huff, and Brooklyn Smith picked up points for the Lancers.  In the second game, Allison Easterday and Huff earned points for the Lancers as LHS fell 15.5 to 4.5 overall.  Smith finished with a 2-game series of 321 to lead LaVille. In the second match, LaVille battled rival John Glenn and picked up their first team victory of the season - 14-6 over the Falcons. Easterday led the LHS cause with a 2-game series of 312.  Easterday picked up two points, while Huff added two more individual points overall.  The 5-player LaVille team knocked down the most pins to earn the team points. LaVille will return to Michiana West Conference action Sunday, October 27 at Quick's Lanes.  The Lancers are set to face Plymouth - the guys at 2 p.m. and the gals at approximately 4:30 p.m. *Our thanks to Christine Riddle for the bowling photos MICHIANA WEST CONFERENCE At Chippewa Bowl Boys Results Mishawaka 12, LaVille 8 Mishawaka Jack Taylor             148-133 Jake Miller             189-168 Chris Evans            228-171 Taiyden Klosinski 188-137 Brody Million         220-229 LaVille Sean Kubsch          127 - Jackson Powers        - 184 Ryan Riddle            178 - 162 Chase Schmidt        183 - 162 Ryan Carmichael  205 - 221 Andrew Wolford    212 - 177  * * * * *   MICHIANA WEST CONFERENCE At Chippewa Bowl Girls Results Penn 15.5, LaVille 4.5 LaVille  Allison Easterday 107 - 143 Trinity Pickett        104 - 76 Kylies Rogers          79 - - Jessica Keb                68 Lexi Huff                135 - 126 Brooklyn Smith    163 - 158 Penn Madelyn McGinnis 139 - 130 Brea Lockwood          93 - Alyssa Goss                  - 101 Kirsten Davidson    137 - 139 Lillian Davis             128 - Laney Koontz                - 107 Sophia Monroe       163 - 191  * * * * * MICHIANA WEST CONFERENCE At Chippewa Bowl Girls Results LaVille 14, John Glenn 6 John Glenn Haley Ax                     79 - Maddie Rose                        61 Daja McIllwain            92 - 102 McKenzy Pockrandt 106 - 137 Ciara Vincent             118 - 125 Baylie Goodlink         162 - 184 LaVille Allison Easterday     143 - 169 Trinity Pickett             78 -  75 Jessica Keb                98 -  - Kylie Rogers                      108 Lexi Huff                     131 - 165 Brooklyn Smith          135 - 125
