UNION MILLS - LaVille is set to open the 2024-25 high school season on the road. Coach Nicholas Amors' club will travel to Union Mills on Saturday, November 9, for a non-conference game. The junior varsity is scheduled to tip at 6pm EST, with the varsity to follow. South Central, under the direction of first-year coach Doug Nelson, finished 16-7 overall last year. The Satellites are members of the Porter County Conference. SC averaged 47.9 points per game, while allowing 39.9 points per outing. South Central was 10-1 when scoring at least 48 points a year ago. Expected back for SC are junior Samantha Marks (8.3 ppg/5.1 rpg), senior Lexi Johnson (6.5 ppg/3.8 rpg), and junior Makenna Welsh (4.4 ppg/4.8 rpg) Marks scored 10 points and Johnson 7 in last season's 45-38 Satellite win at LaVille. Marks returns as the top rebounder, followed by Welsh. Johnson is the top long-distance shooter after hitting 30% from 3-point territory last season. This will be the 12th meeting since the 2000-01 season - South Central leads LaVille, 6-5. The Lancers are 3-3 in games played in Union Mills during that time. Senior Brooke Edison is the top player returning for LaVille. The 5'8" senior forward averaged 10.5 ppg, 7.7 rpg, and was the lead sniper, averaging 4.7 steals a game, which ranked her in the top 20 within the state of Indiana. Game on ...
