GAMEDAY: Lady Hoops Set To Host Tippecanoe Valley In INSC Opener; Marian Saturday

LAKEVILLE - It's a basketball weekend in Lakeville! Coach Nicholas Amor's club will host a Friday-Saturday doubleheader at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. LaVille Lady Hoops will play host to Tippecanoe Valley on Friday, November 16, to open Indiana Northern State Conference play. The junior varsity game is scheduled for a 6 pm start, with the varsity to follow. The game will be live-streamed by clicking https://www.ihsaatv.org/?B=1507995 On November 16, the Lancers will play host to Mishawaka Marian for a Saturday matinee. The JV game is set to tip at 11am, with the varsity to follow at approximately 12:30pm. The game can be live-streamed by clicking https://www.ihsaatv.org/?B=1507998 Friday will mark the first time since the 1986-87 season that the Vikings and Lancers will be playing each other. This will be the sixth meeting all-time, with LaVille leading, 3-2. The Lancers have won the last two games of the series, including a 45-40 decision in January, 1987. The Vikings are 1-2 overall following a 41-34 loss against Culver Academy on November 12. Tippecanoe Valley finished 19-4 last season, but returns just one starter and has a new coach. Rebekah Parker is a Valley graduate and is still the Vikings all-time steals and assist leader. Parker played her college ball at Evansville and has also played internationally and has JV coaching experience. Junior Gaby Gonzalez, who averaged 6.8 ppg and had a team-high 2.8 assist per game, is the lone starter back. Sophomore Hadley Wise returns with varsity time last season along with being one of the leading scorers from the JV squad. Other returnees for the Vikings are juniors Lucy Hayden and Dalynne Buzzard who averaged 4.8 and 3.1 points per game respectively. Senior Olivet Nazarene signee Carlee Snyder, who averaged 3.9 ppg and 3 rpg, is back. Tippecanoe Valley does have some frontcourt size, three players at or above six feet tall. Parker's team averages 40 points per game, while allowing 50.3 points per outing. TV is 1-0 on the road this season. LaVille is 1-0 after a 34-32 road victory against South Central (Union Mills). The Lancers had balanced scoring, with Jasmine Foster and Denni Markin leading the way with 10 points each. Brooke Edison added nine points and led the team with seven steals. Coach Nicholas Amor's club is looking to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2017-18.
