LAKEVILLE - LaVille's girls basketball team played host to Tippecanoe Valley in an early-season Indiana Northern State Conference game at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. The Lancers, still playing at less than full strength, battled the entire game. At one point rallying from a 16-point deficit in the second half before falling 37-41 to the Vikings. Brooke Edison led all scores with a career-high 22 points for LHS. She also added seven assists and seven rebounds. "They had a solid game and stuck to our game plan," said third-year coach Nicholas Amor. "We held their two best players below their averages and ultimately their reserves stepped up and hit shots for them." When asked about the second-half rally by his squad, Amor commented, "I love the fight that the girls have and we will always be in games if we play with it. Brooke is the spark on our team that keeps the fire burning and we rely on her tenacity to keep us in those games." Valley, meanwhile, had a balanced attack, with Carley Snyder leading the way with 14 points. LaVIlle moves to 1-1 overall and will play host to Mishawaka Marian on November 16. The junior varsity game is set to tip at 11am, with the varsity to follow.
