BREMEN - Ever since his arrival a couple years back, LaVille Lady Hoops head coach Nicholas Amor was looking forward to the journey to help Lancer basketball create excitement for the program. To start the 2024-25 campaign, Amor knew his club would not be at full strength, but the, "goal is always going to be the following, a winning record and competing in every game ... I want there to be excitement around girls basketball at LaVille." As Friday's Indiana Northern State Conference game at Bremen started, one could tell that this was going to be a typical contest. Throw out the records, throw out any rankings, toss the ball up and let's play. Yes, Bremen came in as the defending 2A sectional and regional champions, with several key members back. Amor's crew showed grit, determination, and were going to compete no matter what. For the first half and into the third quarter it was a tight INSC affair, with neither team leading by more than two possessions. The Lions, however, went on a 15-4 run over the final 3:40 of the third period to take a commanding 45-30 advantage. LaVille fought valiantly, but Bremen's experience and scoring depth was the difference in a 68-42 victory over the Lancers. Kila Foster led the Lions offense with a game-high 19 points, including three 3-point field goals. Coach Alex Robinson's squad put four  Jasmine Foster netted a team-high 12 points to go with nine rebounds. Brooke Edison tallied nine points, nine boards, and six steals. The Lancers (3-2 overall and 0-2 in the INSC) return to action Tuesday, November 26, at South Bend Adams.  The junior varsity is scheduled for a 6pm tip. The varsity will follow from the Hadaway Shack.
