SOUTH BEND - For the first time since the 1994-95 season, LaVille and South Bend Adams renew girls basketball acquaintances. The two teams played multiple times in the late 1980s, before a IHSAA regional encounter in 1991, then seemed to close out the rivalry following a couple of pairings in the South Bend Holiday tournament. LaVille won the first two regular season games, but the Eagles won the last three encounters. Coach Maurice Scott's team is 2-2 following a 71-36 victory over Mishawaka Marian on November 22. Sophomore Amya Henry leads a balanced offensive attack, averagining 13.5 points per game. Additional contributions are expected from Lundon Schindler (6.3 ppg, 2. rpg), Zariah Wiley (6.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg), and Samara Rouser (6.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg). Adams is in the midst of six straight home games, while LaVille is in the middle of a three-game road trip. LHS is set to travel to North Miami on November 30. Scott's group is averaging 47.5 points per game, while allowing 50.3 points per outing. Coach Nicholas Amor's club is 3-2 following a 68-42 conference loss at Bremen on November 22. LHS is led offensively by senior Brooke Edison with a 14.2 points per game average. She also adds 6.6 rebounds and is among the state's best in steals at 6.4 per outing. Jasmine Foster helps with 9.4 ppg and is the top rebounder at 7.2. Denni Markin adds 7.4 ppg and 6.6 rpg, while Ava Weil chips in 4.0 ppg and 3.4 assists per outing. Game on ...
