LAKEVILLE - It's a basketball night in Lakeville! LaVille returns home after starting the 2024-25 season with three road games. The junior varsity is scheduled for a 6pm tip, with the varsity to follow. The Lancers open the home portion of the schedule with a 1-2 overall record following a 50-34 Indiana Northern state Conference loss at Jimtown on December 6. Rival Argos returns to Lakeville with an 0-2 overall mark after a 87-64 loss to West Central. Argos graduated its top scorer - Sean Richard - from a year ago, along with losing several letterwinners. According to LaVille head coach Michael Edison, Argos might be young, but they will battle. "Argos has some young players, but they are very gritty and play very hard," Edison said of the Tuesday night opponent.  "They have a couple of solid shooters and also have the (Luke) Stults kid who is about 6'5" and is able to do lots of things for them.  They run some different zones as well as man-to-man.  They will be ready to play against us and we must be focused and ready to play tonight." In addition to Stults returning, Preston Mollette and Obe Salary also return from a team that finished 10-13 last season. When asked about some Argos players to keep an eye on, Edison said, "Stults is a post player, but also steps outside as well.  He is a very good passer and gets others involved in the game.  (Mekhi)  Austin is a  very good shooter, ball handler, and defender.  We need to keep an eye on him so he does not get wide open looks." This will be the 54th meeting between the two schools since 1984-85.  LaVille owns a 28-25 lead over Argos, including a 17-12 advantage since the 84-85 campaign. After three games on the road to open the season, Edison's club returns to the friendly confines of Dale E. Cox Gymnasium and Lancer Nation. "We always like playing at home," said Edison, who has guided LaVille to a 123-58 (.679) Cox Gym record since taking over for LaVille in 2008-09.  "It will be nice to have our first game at home tonight." Edison and his crew know there is plenty of work to be done yet this season and that starts with, "Taking care of the ball, ball pressure and execution on offense," tonight against the Dragons.
