LAKEVILLE - Taking advantage of a quick start, LaVille turned a 17-4 first quarter lead into a 49-23 victory over Lakeland Christian Academy Thursday. Not only was it the first visit to Dale E. Cox Gymnasium for the Cougars, but it also happened to be 'Senior Night' for the Lancers. And, right on cue, senior guard Mackena Deason ignited the LaVille offense early with a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers.The defense showed why it is one of the Top 20, regardless of classification in Indiana, smothering LCA to the tune of just six points through the first 16 minutes and 23 total for the game. "I thought the girls did a great job last night setting the tone early and playing as a team," said Lancer coach Nicholas Amor.  "They were locked in offensively and communicating defensively at a high level. Mackena got us going from the 3 point line which opened up the middle of the floor." As the game progressed, Amor utilized his bench to rotate players to keep them fresh and contribute quality minutes. "Everyone got a chance to contribute and Morgan gave us some solid minutes which is more and more crucial as the season progresses," Amor said of the team and sophomore forward Morgan Schmidt, who splits time on the junior varsity. The LaVille seniors did a nice job contributing to the victory.   Brooke Edison led all scorers with 15 points to go with seven rebounds, six steals and a couple of assists.  Mikalah Kuskye handled the point-guard duties, while dotting the scoresheet with five rebounds, a couple of steals and a couple assists.  Foster chipped in with half-dozens rebounds and Deason added four assists. Overall a good win as Amor's crew pushes the winning streak to three straight and 9 of their last 10 games.  LHS prepares for a Indiana Northern State Conference game at home against Jimtown.  The varsity-only game is set for a 6pm tip on January 11.
