LAKEVILLE - It's GAMEDAY in Lakeville! The 60th Everwise Bi-County Basketball Tournament has arrived! New Prairie comes to town with a 2-9 overall record following a 73-49 loss to Penn.  The last Cougar victory came on December 27 against Lewis Cass at the Plymouth Holiday Tournament. Brody Wiginton and Jagger Daniels lead New Prairie, who is averaging 39.7 points per game.  The Cougars allow 56.7 points per outing. LaVille is 7-5 after a 50-40 victory at Elkhart Christian Academy on January 18.  Collin Czarnecki led the Lancers with 31 points. Czarnecki, Andre Gonzales, Lance Edison and Braedyn Foster lead LaVille. We had a chance to chat with LaVille head coach Michael Edison following the ECA game. "It’s always nice to get a win, especially when we don’t shoot the best," said the Lancer boss.  "The game against ECA was very physical and it was a tough one to play in as it seemed like there were some inconsistencies with the way the refs were calling the game.  ECA always plays tough at home and especially on homecoming night." Wednesday's opening round game of the prestigious tournament will feature the first time that New Prairie and LaVille have faced each other since the 2018-19 semifinal contest. LaVille won that game 47-44 for the right to meet John Glenn in the Everwise Bi-County championship. "New Prairie has a much tougher schedule than us, and so their record is not indicative of how they are as a team," Edison said of the Cougars.  "They run a lot of zone defense and it is unique because we don’t see a lot of 1-2-2 zone from teams we play."According to Edison, LaVille will have to keep track of a couple New Prairie players during the first round of play. "The coach's kid, (Brody) Wiginton, is their best player and leads them in all categories. He is a 6’4” sophomore and is very athletic.  They also started a 6’8” player (Jaydon Clemons) who takes up a lot of space inside." Edison communicated some very basic, but always important keys to victory, "rebounding is always a key along with taking care of the ball. We need to make good decisions on offense and get high percentage shots." Game on GAMEDAY 60th Everwise Bi-County Tournament Teams: New Prairie (2-9) at LaVille (7-5) Site: Dale E.
