LAKEVILLE - It's GAMEDAY in Lakeville! And as the time draws closer to the start of the semifinal round of today's Everwise Bi-County basketball tournament at LaVille Jr-Sr High School, there is a level of excitement already in the air. Four teams will battle for the right to play in the January 25 championship game. In the 630pm opener, 1A #5 Triton (10-1) meets Argos (3-9).  Triton holds the series lead, 37-25, since the 1984-85 season.  The Trojans are looking for their first title game appearance since 2022, while Argos looks to return to the championship for the first time since 2008. In the second semifinal, Bremen and LaVille lock horns at approximately 8pm for the second time in 14 days and 65th time since 1984-85. Games can be watched through live stream by clicking https://www.youtube.com/live/phbV79Fq9Bo In the January 10 encounter, the Lions were able to hold off the Lancers, 65-60. The game featured a pair of sharp-shooting guards as Bremen's Chase Devine scored 32 points and LaVille's Collin Czarnecki hit for 30 points. We had the chance to ask LaVille coach Michael Edison if either team has an advantage after playing so recently and keys to the January 24 game. "I don't think there is an advantage," said the 17th year Lancer skipper. "Is it hard to beat a team twice in one season? No, not really.  Can a team beat a team twice in the same season? Yes.  And can the teams split two games in the same season? Yes. "We are going to have to play better defense, take care of the ball and rebound.  We are also going to have to defend Chase Devine better than we did last time.  We have to get a hand up and make him take more challenging shots.  He may score his average of 24 points or whatever, but how did he earn those points? We may use different ways to defend him that other teams might not use." Bremen is led by Devine, Tyrus Graverson and Silas Laidig.  The Lions average 53.0 points per game and allow 49.3 points per outing.  BHS is 3-2 so far this season in games decided by six points or less. LaVille is led by Czarnecki, Andre Gonzales and Lance Edison. The Lancers average 54.9 on offense and give up 45.1 on defense.  LHS is 7-1 so far in 24-25 when scoring at least 55 points. In this tournament, however, records and rankings can be thrown out. Game on ... GAMEDAY 2025 Everwise Bi-County Tournament Semifinal #1 Teams: 1A #5 Triton (10-1) v. Argos (3-9) Site: Dale E.
