LAKEVILLE - It's GAMEDAY in Lakeville! After a thrilling 58-48 overtime victory over Bremen in the semifinal round of the Everwise Bi-County basketball tournament Friday night, LaVille is set to renew its rivalry against Triton. Separated by 20 miles and close community ties, these two former Northern Indiana and Northern State Conference foes are set for 54th meeting since 1984-85. The Trojans handled Argos, 65-29, in the semifinal opener Friday, before the Lancers overcame what looked like an insurmountable 39-25 deficit late in the fourth quarter to set up the Championship Saturday finale. These two teams met just 18 days ago, with the Trojans rallying for its own 49-48 victory in Lakeville. "Triton is a very talented team!" said LaVille coach Michael Edison. "We need to really limit our turnovers and try to battle every possession with them. We just want to keep it close and not let their shooters get going! Coach Groves does an amazing job with this team and they will be very ready to go! We must come ready to battle every possession!" Triton was led by Gage Riffle, Julia Swanson and Brady Wood in the first meeting. LaVille has been led lately by Collin Czarnecki, Andre Gonzales, Lance Edison and Braedyn Foster. Look for this one to be a dandy for the 60th Everwise Bi-County Championship trophy. Game on ...
