LAKEVILLE - Senior Karson Quinn has signed to continue his academic and baseball athletic career at Spoon River College in Canton, Illinois. "I came across Spoon River College, because I had been following the program for a long time and could see myself playing there," said Quinn, who plays third base and pitches for LaVille High School. "I am expecting to catch primarily with the possibility of playing corner infield and possibly some innings on the mound. As of now I plan on studying business." Quinn is set for his senior season for coach Brian Lawler. He was the leading hitter a year ago, batting for .432 while leading the team in runs batted in and tied for the team-lead in extra-base hits. While pitching last season, Quinn finished with an earned run average under 1.00 and the lowest OBA on the team. "I have been playing baseball ever since I was able to," explained Quinn, who earned all-conference honors as a junior. "I did play travel baseball for a couple different organizations. It impacted me greatly, it not only helped by seeing different competition from multiple different areas but also put me around like minded individuals who had the same goals as me." As he moves into his final high school baseball season in the spring of 2025, Quinn has appreciated the opportunity to play for the Lancers and coach Lawler. "Playing baseball at LaVille has done a lot for me, I have caught almost the entirety of my high school years," admitted Quinn. "Although we have not won any championships yet we have definitely been heading in the right direction. "Baseball has impacted my life greatly, from traveling, meeting new people, and shaping me into the person I am today. Along with teaching me if you put the work in you will get the results you’re looking for. LaVille baseball has given me some unforgettable memories, along with some great friends. Coach Lawler has been a huge part of my baseball journey. He has always pushed me to be a better player and person, I would not be the player I am today without him. He is a great coach, he does a lot of research and is very good about adapting with the game as it has changed." Spoon River is a member of the Mid-West Athletic Conference, along with Danville, Heartland, Illinois Central, John Wood, Lewis & Clark, Lincoln Land, Parkland and Vincennes. The Snappers are a National Junior College, located approximately 40 minutes south and west of Peoria, Illinois. The Mid-West Athletic Conference is a two-year college conference composing the two-year schools in Central and South Central Illinois, and one school in Southwestern Indiana, who also compete as part of the NJCAA in its Region XXIV (or Region 24).
