KNOX - For the third time in 2024-25, LaVille and Bremen renewed their girls high school basketball rivalry. The latest gathering had a little more on the line.  In fact, an opportunity to play for another sectional championship. In the end, the Lancers showed fight and perseverance, but Bremen held on for a 46-27 victory in the Class 2A Sectional at Knox High School. A year ago, both the Lancers and the Lions won their respective sectionals - LHS won the 2A North Judson-San Pierre title, while BHS hoisted the 3A Rochester trophy. With just a little over 10 miles separating the two conference foes, Bremen had already won two previous meetings against LaVille. Coach Nicholas Amor's club was excited to face the Lions once again. The two teams showed their nervous excitement in the early going, but the defense by both squads came to the forefront. Bremen held on to one-point leads to close each of the first two quarters - 6-5 after one and 16-15 at halftime. In the second half, LaVille struggled from the field and were outscored 19-6 in the third period as the Lions began to pull away. Mikalah Kuskye led the LaVille offense with eight points, while Mackena Deason added six, Denni Markin five, Brooke Edison four and Jasmine Foster four. LaVille, who will graduate four key players when the Class of 2025 pick up diplomas later this year, finished the season at 15-8 overall.   Graduating will be Deason, Edison, Foster and Kuskye.
