LAKEVILLE - It's a basketball night in Lakeville! And on this Valentine's Day, 2025, the John Glenn Falcons trek east along Indiana Hwy 6 to take on conference rival LaVille. The junior varsity game is set for a 6pm ET tip, followed by the varsity. It will be the 57th meeting since 1984-85 and the Falcons lead the series, 44-12. Not only is this a rivalry game, but it will be senior recognition night for the Lancer basketball players and winter cheer crew. Oh, and one more thing ... just happens to be an Indiana Northern State Conference showdown. John Glenn and LaVille will close the INSC portion of the schedule for bragging rights and final placement in the league standings. Needless to say, there is a lot on the line as the Falcons visit Lakeville on GAMEDAY! "With this being a down the road, conference rival, it will be a hard fought game and Glenn will definitely be ready to go," said LaVille coach Michael Edison, who is 7-17 against John Glenn.  "John Glenn primarily runs a 2-3 zone on defense.  They are very active defensively and do a very good job at getting deflections.  I noticed that their guards keep their head on a swivel and really do a good job seeing everything that is around them.  On offense they attack the basket aggressively and do not back down." According to coach Edison, his Lancers have several players to keep an eye out for on Friday. "A few players we have to keep track of are (Jude) Nicks, (Joe) Devine, and (Kaden) Lang.  They can all three shoot the ball and Nicks is a great penetrator." Nicks leads the Falcons 3-point game at nearly 40 percent, Lang shoots almost 35 percent and Divine kicks in 27 percent from beyond the arc. Coach John DuPont's team may come in with a 3-14 overall record, but coach Edison says, "They (JG) are playing much better of late and they play a tough schedule." Nicks is the lone player averaging in double figures, with 13 points per game.  He also adds 4.5 rebounds.  Divine and Lang chip in nearly 12 points per game and are the top assist leaders. Still, Edison knows his team must come out ready and find the gaps in the John Glenn defense. "We will have to take care of the ball, rebound well, and knock down open shots as there will be some openings in their zone," closed the Lancer coach. LaVille is 12-6 overall following a 55-43 win against West Noble on February 8.  The Chargers challenged the Lancers before LHS used a 36-20 second half scoring spurt to pull away. Sophomore Lance Edison had a huge second half, scoring 16 of his career-high 18 points, a game-high nine rebounds. Senior Collin Czarnecki added a game-high 26 points to go with four assists and nine steals.  Throw out the rankings and records and let's play some hoops! Game on ...
