MISHAWAKA - Senior Ryan Riddle has signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Bethel University in Mishawaka, IN. Riddle, who was a member of the 2024-25 LaVille bowling team, and helped lead the Lancers to a top 10 finish at the Indiana Bowling Centers Association. "I'm just happy to continue doing what I love most, which is bowling," said Riddle.  "I prefer to stay home and Bethel's only like, 30 minutes away and it's also a great place, but I like to stay home." Bethel is under the direction Chris Adams has watched Riddle make positive strides during his bowling career at LaVille. "Seeing him progress through high school and get better and better, the collegiate level is so difficult. He's got the right mindset," said Adams.  "That equates very well to college bowling. And I think he's a great person. And I think the idea of having a good teammate bringing somebody in that really helps build up the whole program, He's that kind of guy." LaVille coach Kevin Kubsch, who helped send Hayden Grindle to Goshen College last season, expects Riddle to continue to work hard moving forward for the Pilots. "This kid will just continue to fight, fight through everything," said Kubsch. "He will fight to get better, to be a good teammate,  to want to win and that says a lot about that young man. He's a true competitor." Kubsch has been the conductor of the Lancer bowling program since its return to Lakeville in 2020. "We, as coaches, have enjoyed every minute of watching these kids," noted Kubsch about his LaVille team.  "This is not just our first one. This is our third student athlete now that's gone on to higher education in his bowling for that institution. So it's it's pretty special." When asked about deciding on Bethel University and what he feels he needs to work on, Riddle said, "Well, I've known the coach for several years. I know that he's been trying to rebuild his team and I wanted to be a part of that, to make this team great again. Mainly like the mental part of all of it because, like he's gonna help me and my mental game because I've been struggling with that through all of high school ... but it's gotten better over the years. So I think if I get my mental game down, it'll be perfect."
