LAKEVILLE - The LaVille Lancer boys high school track and field team had their share of success in 2024. Coach Kathe Beehler's squad won their second straight Hoosier North Athletic Conference title and third HNAC championship in six years. LHS came away with five individual conference championships - Michael Good in discus and shot put, and Lincoln Hulsey in pole vault, 100 and 400. LaVille also had two individual regional champions (Good and Hulsey), and also sent both Good and Hulsey down to the state finals in Bloomington. Lancer track also set a couple of new school records. "We were able to reach a lot of the goals that we set for 2024!" said Beehler when asked to summarize last season. "It was a fun season!" The veteran LaVille coach is now ready for her 16th high school season and to lead the 2025 team set and strive to compete to the best of their abilities. "... Keep pushing and challenging them to reach their goals!" said Beehler when asked about the success and hard work she has instilled into the Lancer student-athletes. "We reload and train hard." LaVille has been known for strong field events, especially in throws and pole vault. Good and Hulsey have helped over the past few years, but are now gone to graduation. "We graduated some high point scorers. They were special kids," Beehler said about the now-graduated Lancers. "This year, we are a young team! Some have never ran track before. Pole vault has all new kid’s jumping! Ryan Maenhout looks like our number one vaulter right now. It’s his first time doing track and pole vault. In the throws we have seniors Cody Allen and Eli Platz and freshman Keenan Richart." In the high jump arena, Lance Edison, Avery Garrett, Maenhout, Sam Sherk and Maenhout. On the long jump side, Ian Moffett, Caleb Skiles, Trenton Laidig and Hudson Rush are set to lead this group. According to Beehler, Cole Stafford, a regional qualifier in the 400 last season, is set to return, with hopes to have Konnor Amor back to top speed soon. Dylan Miller is tops in the mid distance for LHS, while Cristian Bianchini is the early distance leader. Every coach knows that any member of their roster can rise and have that special season. At LaVille, coach Beehler says Edison in the high jump, Stafford in the sprints and Miller in the middle distance are just some of the Lancers to look out for in 2025. As the 2024 season came to a close, LaVille finished their 10-year run in the HNAC. The Lancers reunited with Bremen, John Glenn, Jimtown, and Knox from the former Northern State Conference to join with Tippecanoe Valley to make the Indiana Northern State Conference.
