LAKEVILLE - LaVille jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back in a 11-2 victory over South Bend Washington Tuesday. Coach Brian Lawler's Lancers sent 13 batters to the plate in the first inning. LHS also benefited from three Panther errors, along with cracking six hits to forge the early margin. Andre Gonzales started the LaVille half of the first inning with a single. After a fielder's choice pushed Gonzales to second, Brayden Schwitz smacked an RBI double to put Lawler's crew on the board. Then came three costly Washington errors in four batters that helped the LaVille lead to 6-0. Xzavian LaFave, Karson Quinn, Sean Kubsch, Gonzales and Schwitz all singled as the Lancers closed a big inning. Washington got on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning before Quinn added a two-run home run in the bottom of the 5th for the final margin. Andrew Wolford picked up the win, tossing a pair of innings and striking out five and walking one. Also registering some time on the mound was Schwitz, Collin Czarnecki, and Lucas Underwood. Quinn finished the game with three hits, a double, home run and five RBIs. Schwitz also added a pair of hits. Riley Filley collected a 2-RBI double for the Lancers. LaVille improves to 2-1 and will play at the Caston Invitational April 12. The Lancers open play with the host Comets at 10am before an afternoon contest against Manchester.
