LAKEVILLE - We are excited to team together with Jersey Mike's Subs as they sponsor a Player of the Week at LaVille High School! Coaches and LaVille Athletic Department personnel will select various student-athletes from baseball, boys golf, boys track and field, girls tennis, girls track and field, and softball. Our softball recipient this week is LaVille freshman Grace McBride. She was nominated by coach Garrett McBride. "As a freshman she has stepped up as our offensive leader as well as a contributor in the circle, behind the plate and at the hot corner," said coach McBride. Grace hit .583 during a four-game span last week, including three runs batted in and two stolen bases. She worked six innings in the circle, striking out five batters. When asked how the season is going so far, Grace responded, "It's been going good. We have been growing a lot. We are working hard at practice. We have been seeing the work over the summer and winter is now being put into games." Softball returns to the action on April 16 at Michigan City Marquette.
