LAKEVILLE - We are excited to team together with Jersey Mike's Subs as they sponsor a Player of the Week at LaVille High School! Coaches and LaVille Athletic Department personnel will select various student-athletes from baseball, boys golf, boys track and field, girls tennis, girls track and field, and softball. Our girls track and field recipient this week is LaVille senior Mikalah Kuskye. She was nominated by coach Erin Ecker. We had a minute to catch up with Mikalah and ask her how things were going. " It's been kind of tough this year because we don't have that many girls and we've had a lot of injuries," said the 3-sport standout.  "But, overall it's been a pretty good senior year so far." Mikalah is a pretty busy gal on the track, currently performing in four events - Open 1 and 2, 4X100 relay and 4X400 relay. When participating in the relays, she runs in different aspects of each race. "In the 4x100 I run the second leg, so that's mostly just the straightaway," she said when asked about where she performs within the race.  "In the 4X400 I run the anchor leg, so I'm the last person.  It really just depends on who we are running against. It's fun to see, sometimes we are majorly in a lead, so it's fun to see how that plays out.  Sometimes we just try to PR, which is what I try to do. If we are behind, it is fun to chase down people and see if I can bring our team to a win." Like the other LaVille student-athletes so far, Kuskye is very thankful to Jersey Mike's Subs for the acknowledgement. "I really like Jersey Mike's ... it is one of my go-tos, especially before or after a meet," Kuskye said with a smile.  "I really appreciate the recognition from Jersey Mike's!"
