LAKEVILLE - Sydnee Miller has signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Manchester College in Manchester, Indiana. Miller plans to participate on the Manchester College women's tennis team and study Animal Physical Therapy. "... So during my first four years I'm going to have my major as Biology and then go to vet school to become a vet," said Miller. "And then do a year of physical therapy school after that." We had the chance to ask Sydnee about her college selection. "When choosing a college I didn't want to rush into anything and with going to a big school for K-6th I wanted a smaller school because I like them better and feel a bigger connection with them," responded Miller. "So when I went and toured Manchester I thought it was perfect. I loved the size of the campus. It wasn't too big but not that small either and I also loved the community feeling, also with tennis being my favorite sport. When I got the chance to continue playing it past high school I couldn't pass it up and the coaches and all the players were very nice." Manchester, a member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, has three seniors listed on the 2024-25 roster. "The Manchester tennis program is a fairly good size," said Miller. "I don't know what spots are open. I know they have like 3-4 seniors who left so there are spots open but I'm going to just try my best and work my hardest in hopes that I get a fairly good spot." Sydnee has played in the LaVille High School tennis program for four years, playing at No.1 singles the last couple of years. "I am going to miss playing tennis for LaVille so much. I started tennis my freshman year but only because my older sister Annabelle wanted me to do it with her. I very fastly came to love it. I also play soccer but I have never been that confident in soccer but when I play tennis I am so confident and it's like I finally found where I belong, I finally found my place." Over the last couple of years, Sydnee has had her mom, April, as the head coach. "Having my mom as my head coach is definitely a weird thing but I also love it," Sydnee said. "Most of the time when you are talking about sports with your parents and they give you tips or advice you don't want to listen because it's your parents. But when they are your coach it is kind of a different story. Although sometimes it does get annoying, I appreciate her so much for everything that her and my dad do for me. I love them so much and am so thankful she stuck by my side and helped me to keep playing tennis." As we closed our time, Sydnee wanted to share some thoughts about her Lancer tennis teammates and her new Spartan teammates. "I just want to say how much I am going to miss playing tennis at LaVille. It has literally been the best times of my life and I am going to miss everyone so much and I wish the team the best of luck. And don't worry I will be back to cheer you guys on. "As for Manchester tennis, I know that there were 3-4 seniors who graduated, so I am going to try my best and work hard and whatever spot I get I'm going to be very grateful.
