LAKEVILLE - We are excited to team together with Jersey Mike's Subs as they sponsor a Player of the Week at LaVille High School!Coaches and LaVille Athletic Department personnel will select various student-athletes from baseball, boys golf, boys track and field, girls tennis, girls track and field, and softball. Our baseball recipient this week is LaVille senior Sean Kubsch. He was nominated by coach Brian Lawler. We had a minute to catch up with Sean to talk about the season and the final stretch of the INSC schedule."We could be doing better," said Kubsch, the LaVille first baseman.  "We just have to focus ahead and worry about the games coming up. We've been in every game for the most part and it just shows that we compete with anybody." According to Kubsch, he was a bit taken back by the Jersey Mike's Subs player of the week accolades."I am most appreciative and a little shocked.  I didn't expect it.  It's a little confidence boost." Sean enters a busy week with a .250 batting average and is tied for second on the Lancer baseball team in runs batted in.  He is also playing a solid first base defensively. The baseball team continues to be in the hunt for the INSC championship with three conference games left on the schedule.  On May 15 and May 16, the Lancers will face league-leader Jimtown, then close out the INSC schedule with Knox on May 21. "Maybe not must-win games coming up, but definitely pretty important games,"   Don't want to get too far behind in the conference.We don't want to get swept, but splitting with good teams and sweeping the ones you should sweep." When asked about the Jersey Mike's Subs recognition, the Lancer seniors said, "It's a huge confidence boost for a lot of athletes.
