LAKEVILLE - We are excited to team together with Jersey Mike's Subs as they sponsor a Player of the Week at LaVille High School! Coaches and LaVille Athletic Department personnel will select various student-athletes from baseball, boys golf, boys track and field, girls tennis, girls track and field, and softball. Our softball recipient this week is LaVille freshman Sydney Williams. She was nominated by coach Garrett McBride. We had an opportunity to chat with Sydney about the season. According to Sydney, she has played first base, second base and left field this season for the Lancers. "Softball season has been going pretty good," said Sydney. "Out of all of the positions I have played, my favorite is first base, but I enjoy playing wherever. I've had a lot of fun." As LaVille softball closes the 2025 regular season, the Lancers will open the IHSAA state tournament against rival Bremen on May 26. LaVille's is scheduled to participate in the IHSAA state tournament at the sectional level on May 22 at Penn High School. When asked about the Jersey Mike's Subs recognition, she said, "I'm excited to go to Jersey Mike's. I'm excited to use it and I appreciate Jersey Mike's for the recognition."
