LAKEVILLE - As we close out the spring 2025 athletic season, we continue to be excited to team together with Jersey Mike's Subs as they sponsor a Player of the Week at LaVille High School! Coaches and LaVille Athletic Department personnel will select various student-athletes from baseball, boys golf, boys track and field, girls tennis, girls track and field, and softball. Our final Jersey Mike's Subs Player of the Week will be from boys golf. LaVille senior Jalen Heilman was nominated by coach Scot Shearer. We had the chance to chat with Jalen about how the golf season has been and a few items as his senior season closes. "I am LaVille's #2 man," said Jalen. "I've only improved this golf season. My scores have consistently gone down." When asked about what his favorite course has been through his high school golf career, Jalen responded, "My favorite course is Swan Lake. They have 36 holes - two 18-hole courses. It is nice out there. There is a lot of variety, they have a very nice practice facility with a driving range, multiple putting greens, and people can get lessons." As we closed our chat, we asked Jalen about his thoughts when he was told that he was nominated for the Jersey Mike's award? "Oh, I thought it was pretty cool. How can you get mad at some Jersey Mike's? I was happy about it! So thank you, coach, and thanks to Jersey Mike's."I'm going to keep playing," concluded Heilman. "It's a lifetime sport, for sure!"
