LAKEVILLE - As the 2025 high school football season begins, teams have spent the summer in the weight room, getting repetitions for any new plays/formations.  After a few days of football camp, coaches and players alike are ready for scrimmages. "So far practice has gone well," said LaVille head football coach Jeff Kaiser.  "We are continuing piecing things together, finding chemistry and rhythm each day." Kaiser and his coaching staff are set to split their squad up for the annual 'Blue & White' scrimmage on Saturday, August 9, at Lancer Field.  This event is free at the gate and is set for a 6:30pm start local time. The official IHSAA scrimmage against another team is scheduled for Friday, August 15. Prairie Heights will visit Lakeville for a 7pm start, also at Lancer Field.  Admission will not be charged on August 15. "(The Blue/White) allows the guys to compete in a more game-like setting for the first time in front of family and friends," said the third-year skipper. "We split the squads up to what we feel are evened up to give us a valuable look at how each of them compete.  It gives us a chance to get them on film and evaluate who we feel can give us the best chance on a Friday night, and then those that will maybe not play a large role on Fridays,  but ones that want to compete on the Saturday mornings / Monday nights. "Prairie Heights will allow us to compete against some different colors for the first time and allow the staff to get a good look at the chemistry and competitiveness we currently have and also will give us a solid measuring stick as to where we are heading into week 1." LaVille graduated 10 from a 6-6 team a year ago, including its starting quarterback, leading rusher, leading receiver, leading tackler, and a top lineman.  The Lancers averaged 25.0 offensively and were 4-0 when scoring 25 points or more.  Defensively, LHS allowed 23.8 points per contest, which was the most since 2013, Will Hostrawser's first year as LaVille head coach. "To this point some of the guys stepping up to fill the spots of graduate players are: Brayden Schwitz at QB, Cole Stafford at RB, Noah Menis at TE/LB, Dylan Miller WR/DB, Chase Lee DB, Lucas Underwood WR/DB, Austin King OL, Lucas Platz OL, Caleb Skiles WR/DB/K," said Kaser, who is 17-8 moving into his third season in Lakeville. "In both of these scrimmages it will allow us, as a staff, to see who wants to compete and make a difference in game-like settings that each will present.   As far as players, they will find out if they are ready to compete in game-like settings." We look forward to seeing you soon!
