Volleyball Season Preview

LAKEVILLE - LaVille Volleyball will feature a mix of experience with youth to start the 2025 high school season. The Lancers, under the direction of sixth-year coach Pat Whitman-Gring, closed out a 6-21 overall season a year ago, including 2-8 in the Indiana Northern State Conference. Gring will be assisted by Jennifer (Hale) Higley, who was a standout player at Concord High School and Taylor University, and LaVille graduate Sydney Coblentz. Among the letterwinners back are seniors Olivia Markin, Faith Mejer, Made Singleton, Ragen Wagoner, Lilly Higley, and Lorelei Carey. Also back are juniors Sarah Tharp and Lily Voss, along with sophomore Avery Lee. Statistical leaders in 2024 include Markin and Wagoner in serving and Markin in assists. At the net, Markin, Mejer, and Wagoner were the top three hitters and blockers. Defensively, Markin, Singleton, and Mejer led in digs. Both Markin and Mejer were selected All-INSC a year ago. The team opened their season with a scrimmage at Saint Joseph High School, followed by the Peru Invitational. LHS is set to start a busy week with a non-conference match at Elkhart Christian Academy Aug. 19, followed by a match at Argos on Aug. 20 and a home match against Bethany Christian on Aug. 21.
