Football Set To Battle Triton In Top 15 Showdown

LAKEVILLE - A year later and the sting still lingers. It was on August 23, 2024 when Triton dismantled LaVille, 27-6, in Bourbon. Turnovers and big plays were crucial in the final outcome a year ago. A blocked punt for a score and two touchdowns in about three minutes turned a one point game into a 21-6 deficit for the Lancers. "Yeah that loss stung pretty hard last year and we have talked about that game many times during the off season," recalled LaVille head football coach Jeff Kaiser. "(Now) looking at them on film, they are once again a very solid team with size and great team speed. They moved guys around a lot which tells me they are confident in their system and believe in their roles as they move around." Now nearly 365 days later, the 2025 Indiana high school football openr kicks off Friday August 22 a 7pm start at Lancer Field. The game can be live-streamed on by clicking https://www.ihsaatv.org/LHSLancers/?B=2578032 According to Kaiser, "Offensively (Triton) will start with their QB (Gage) Riffle, and then the RB's of Jayden Overmeyer and Vincent Prater will get things going on the ground along with a very good WR in Isaac Quintana." The Lancers will counter with Brayden Schwitz, Cole Stafford, and all-state lineman Braedyn Foster. On defense, Foster, Schwitz, Brock Gest, Konnor Amor, Keenan Richhart, and the Lancer Blue Crew are looking to step in. "We have to play mistake free on the offensive side of the ball against the 4-4 defense that the Trojans will line up against us," noted Kaiser. "On film it looks like they like to fly around and play physically. "Our key to win will be to block and tackle well, play mistake free football, finish drives with points and create turnovers. Get stops when we need to and move the chains to sustain drives." Kaiser and the Boys from Lakeville are geared up for the season to start and there is no way better than a small town showdown between a pair of old rivals that start the season in the Class 1A top 15. "We are looking forward to this week #1 matchup and playing on our home field!" closed Kaiser. "We hope to have a solid, noisy crowd cheering us on to a victory on Friday night ... GO BLUE!"
