Volleyball Wins 5-Set Thriller Over BC

LAKEVILLE - The volleyball team faced a feisty Bethany Christian squad Thursday at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. LaVille rallied in the final set to pick up a 3-2 victory. With the win, LHS improved to 3-4 overall, and are set to travel to Lakeland Christian Academy for a varsity-only match on Aug 25. Coach Pat Gring's club used a balanced offensive attack to go a scrappy defense and a career-night by senior Olivia Markin. LaVille offense was led by Markin with 12 kills, followed by Ragen Wagoner with 9, Madi Singleton and Faith Mejer with 8 each, while Lily Voss added 6. Markin also led the service game with 8 aces among LaVille's total of 18 aces. Defensively, Markin picked a career-high 37 digs, while Avery Lee contribute 26 digs as LHS combined for 112 digs. Finally, Markin had a new career-high 19 assists. Lee pitched in 12 assists.
