Volleyball Serves Up Shutout 'W' Against Washington

LAKEVILLE - The volleyball team played host to South Bend Washington in a non-conference match Tuesday at Cox Gymnasium. In the varsity match, LaVille showed a more consistent look, limiting the Panthers to between 15 and 17 points across the match - 25-15, 25-15, 25-17 - served up a season-high 24 aces to gain the victory. LaVille's offense was headlined by Faith Mejer and Madi Singleton, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Olivia Markin with 13 assists and Avery Lee with seven.. Marking was also solid from the service line, serving up 11 aces. LaVille improves to 5-4 overall and has won four straight matches. Tuesday's win against the Panthers matches four-match winning streaks from the 2020 and 2009 season. The longest consecutive winning streak has been five in the 2019 season. One other note, LaVille started this season at 1-4 before the current run. During the first five matches, LaVille's offense was limited to 48 kills. During the last four matches, the Lancer attack game has increased its offense to 151 kills. Coach Pat Gring's club will travel to South Bend Riley August 27.
