LAKEVILLE - Class 1A #19 Argos faced LaVille Tuesday at Newton Park. The two rivals played scoreless ball until just before halftime when the Dragons scored a pair of goals in under a minute. The top 20 Class 1A Dragon team ended up pitching a shutout, 3-0, to end LaVille's four-match winning streak. Argos strycker Ioan Petz found the back of the net in the 37th minute to post the goal in what was a defensive battle. Then about 30 seconds later, Yahir Fajordo was able to sneak past the Lancer defense and tapped his shot past the outstretched dive of LaVille goalie Kyler Christy. Argos led 2-0 at the intermission. In the second half, both teams tried to gain their footing as tough defense once again ruled. In the 65th minute, Fajardo dribbled through a pair of Lancer defenders to create space and was able to find the net for the final margin. Over the past 12 meetings, Argos has controlled the series, but this LaVille club brought more experience and more depth. For much of the first half, LHS brought more speed, matched physical play, and an improved defense that kept them in the match, while creating their own offensive opportunities. LaVille moves to 4-1 overall and will travel to Tippecanoe Valley on September 4 at 5:30pm #19 ARGOS 3, LAVILLE 0 At Newton Park Score By Halves Argos 2 1 - 3 LaVille 0 0 - 0 Scoring Summary First Half A - Ioan Petz, 37th minute A - Yahir Fajardo, 37th Second Half A - Fajardo, 65th Shots - Argos 14, LaVille 10 Corner Kicks - Argos 5, LaVille 3 Goalie Saves - Argos (Sawyer Crace) 5, LaVille (Kyler Christy) 5 Possession - Argos 48%, LaVille 52%
