LAKEVILLE - John Glenn paid a visit to Newton Park Tuesday for not only a rivalry boys soccer match with LaVille, but for a couple key conference items as well. The two schools, about 10 miles apart, were playing for bragging rights and Indiana Northern State Conference placement and seeding for the upcoming INSC Championships. Both teams battled to a scoreless tie through halftime, until John Glenn scored four second-half goals to pick up the 4-0 win at Newton Park. And, as it turned out, the first few minutes of the second half played a key role in deciding the match. John Glenn scored two goals in a 12 minute span to take a momentum-shifting 2-0 lead. Glenn's Rowan Paton, the JG leading scorer, netted a goal in the 45th and 52nd minute, respectively, to change each teams approach. The Falcons continued to take advantage of a more consistent offense and they turned away and shut down scoring threats by LaVille and ultimately earned a big win.
