ELKHART - The high school football team is set to travel to Jimtown as the 2025 Indiana Northern State Conference schedule comes to a close. For LaVille, 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the INSC, they would like nothing better than to continue building as the regular season comes to a close and the IHSAA state football tournament begins. Jimtown comes in 1-6 overall and 0-4 in loop play with a mostly 3A, 4A, 5A schedule. You'll get no excuses from the Jimmies. They come in with, "a fast and physical football team," says LaVille coach Jeff Kaiser. "They have good size up front and off the ball well. They have a couple running backs that run hard so we must tackle well." The lone victory so far for the Jims came against 3A Fairfield by a point, 29-28. JHS is led by quarterback Cameron Inbody and Nash Hamby on offense and Kaiser knows his club must "limit turnovers, create turnovers and put points on the board when we have the ball. Defensively we must not let them big-play us and make them punt the football." Kaiser's crew comes into Baugo Township with a bit more confidence than a couple of weeks ago. The Lancers had lost three straight after a 7-6 loss to rival Bremen, a 38-28 decision at Tippecanoe Valley before challenging 3A #5 Knox until three straight scores put the Redskins ahead to stay in a 62-16 INSC victory. Last week, however, Kaiser felt his team put together all three phases of the game. "We finally put it all together," said Kaiser during our post-game interview at Hostrawser Field. "We came right out of the blocks ... being physical. We have been working hard on that line (recently). (It's been) tough competition and we were just coming up short." In this Week #8 challenge, Jimtown has dominated the all-time series, 41-9. The Jimmies have also won the last 14 regular season meetings played at Knepp Field. The last Lancer win in Baugo Township came 8-7 in August of 1985. The all-time series finds Jimtown leading, 41-9. The Lancers have been led in passing by Brayden Schwitz, who went over the 1,000 yard plateau last week and also has 16 touchdowns. In the LaVille backfield, Cole Stafford, Lawrence Wood, and Schwitz have contributed behind an offensive line led by all-stater Braedyn Foster. Top receivers have been Konnor Amor, Noah Menis, Dylan Miller, and Stafford. So far, Menis has been the main target with 19 catches, but Amor, Menis and Stafford each have 5 TD receptions. The Lancer Blue Crew defense is led by Foster and Menis, a total of 42 tackles for loss from the D, and 16 turnovers. Game on ...
