Cross Country Runs Successful Weekend; Garcia INSC HM, JH Girls NIMS Champs

AKRON - Congratulations to the LaVille Junior and Senior High School cross country teams after a busy Saturday. The high school teams participated in the Indiana Northern State Conference Championships, while the junior high school team ran one time, but two events.  The junior Lancers were timed for placement in the INSC and recognition, but were also part of a 12-team field in the Northern Indiana Middle School XC Championships at Tippecanoe Valley High School. In the high school race, freshman Luis Garcia earned All-INSC honorable mention following his 14th place finish. Brody Foreman and Aaron Platz also ran for the Lancers. A total of 50 runners participated in the boys' race. In the girls' race, Laura Hakkarainen was lone LaVille participant and finished in 18th place overall.  There were 30 runners in the gals race. On the junior high side, LaVille's Annie Tyler took first place in the INSC ladies race and won the over meet championship. Also finishing in the Top 25 were Sophie Edison (4th), Acelyn Christy (9th), and Madilyn Chrisholm (10th). In the boys' INSC event, congratulations to Carson Sherman and Jace Janiak for their top 15 finishes.  The JH girls won the team competition in the Northern Indiana Middle School XC Championships. Congrats to Annie Tyler (2nd), Sophie Edison (11th), Neoma Shirley (16th), Acelyn Christy (21st), Madilyn Chrisholm (22nd).Sherman and Holden Nykamp earned honors for top 5 of their age group in the regional meet. "Everyone made it to the podium for being in the top 25!" said coach Erin Ecker. "Neo was 5th grade champ, Annie and Sophie were both recognized for the top 5 of 7th graders!" Congratulations, Lancers!
